Old Friends

Had a good weekend making two favorites -- pizza and burritos. Simon had been asking for pizza for a while, and it was great to make him something he really wanted. Although the "project" has been completed for a while now, it is great to see the changes that have become a permanent part of our life (am I giving too much of the book away?). There's no way Simon would have requested a specific dish a year ago.

I love cooking for him, and I love knowing that he enjoys the food I make. I can understand why all my grandmother wanted to do was cook for us when we were kids. Having someone request your food, and eat your food, is a very powerful feeling -- especially when it's your own child who is doing the requesting. Knowing what's in the food, and how you've cooked it, and that it's also good for them is part of the pleasure. Except for actually producing our children, there's probably no other reason we are here.
